This page explains what Kuma collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Kuma app and this website. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.
Who we are
Kuma is built by KumaTech, the company behind the coach. If you have any question about this policy or about your information, write to support@kumatech.ai and a person will answer.
The waitlist on this website
When you join the waitlist we store your email address in our database. If you answer the optional question about your goal, we store that answer next to it. We use this to send you a welcome note, tell you when Kuma launches, and share the occasional update.
That is the whole list. No trackers follow you around the web, and we never sell or rent your email. If you want off the list, reply to any email from us or write to support@kumatech.ai and we will delete you from it.
Your account in the app
Kuma uses accounts. You sign in with Apple or Google, and that creates your Kuma account before onboarding begins. From Apple or Google we receive your email address and a sign in identifier, and nothing more. Your account is what keeps your subscription and your coaching relationship tied to you.
Your training data stays with you
Your runs, workouts, plans, and logs live on your device and in your personal iCloud. They are yours. We do not keep a copy of your training history on our servers.
Apple Health is optional. If you allow it, Kuma reads workout data from Apple Health to understand how your training is going, and you can turn that permission off in Settings at any time. Health information is never used for advertising and never sold. Ever.
Coach conversations and coach memory
When you talk with the coach, your messages are processed by a third party AI provider so the coach can reply. We send only what is needed to write a good answer, and our agreement with the provider does not allow it to use your messages for advertising.
The coach also keeps a short memory on our servers, things like an injury or an illness you told it about, so it stays careful with you from week to week. That memory is tied to your account, stored with our database provider in the EU and the US, readable only by your account, and deleted when your account is deleted.
Subscriptions and fair use
Purchases happen through the App Store, so Apple processes your payment and we never see your card. A subscription service tells us your subscription status so the app knows what you have access to. To keep allowances fair, we count things like coach messages and voice minutes against your account.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account inside the app. Deletion removes your account data from our servers, including the coach memory, and revokes the Apple or Google sign in connection. Data on your device stays under your control and goes away when you remove the app.
Changes
If our data practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
